Sébastien Ogier's first outing for Volkswagen Motorsport at the Rallye Monte-Carlo 2013 saw him take second place behind nine-time world champion Sébastien Loeb in his Citroën Total Abu Dhabi World Rally car. Ogier says he could never have predicted such a great result in the new car. Given that Loeb will not compete in every rally this year Ogier is leading the World Rally Championship. Ogier won the opening stage on the first day of the rally but couldn't catch Loeb although he made it clear throughout the week this was never his intention. Loeb's team-mate Dani Sordo took third place to complete the podium.
